Today’s cards are The Tower and Strength.
Right side up The Tower represents a sudden and complete change in the way things are. You can see the violent scene – a couple that thought they had everything is thrown violently from their tower.
There is no safe place, above them the heavens are lashing out, their prized tower is in flames, and the waters are raging.
It represents our inability to stop whatever is coming, feeling powerless. Reversed it can mean that that period, that situation, that moment is now over. What happens now? Where do they go from here?
The picture on the Strength card is a woman cradling a lion. Her face is soft and she has complete control over herself. She has subdued the lion with nothing more than her presence. Did she go looking for him or did he just show up?
If you’ve just come through a major upheaval that you didn’t see coming and over which you had no control, you may feel weak or helpless right now. Today’s reading is here to tell you that you can get through this. Remember that.
We’ve all had moments in our lives where we thought we just couldn’t make it, that giving up would be the best thing to do. And yet, here we are together. I think it can feel all the more dangerous if it isn’t something that we called into being, if it is solely through the actions of others. But, we all have more strength in reserve than we think, more than we give ourselves credit for.
As last week’s reading urged you to stake your claim to joy no matter what may be going on around you, this reading is acknowledging what has happened. Acknowledging how difficult it has been for you to gain your footing, to get back to feeling okay.
I want you to remember the last time a situation made you feel this helpless and out of control. I want you to remember that no matter what, you are still here. We are still here. I want you to know that what got you to the other side then can get you there now. You are stronger than the last time your world upended.
